Logo design explained.

Here at 1194 Creative we are all about simplicity, efficiency and providing an amazing service. This means that from start to finish, the entire journey will be seamless and stress free! You will also get to understand how we do things professionally, and how and why we offer such a great service. We help you learn and understand your logos and why we do the things the way we do.. The proper way. Just so you understand that you aren't getting a cheap service, and you really feel like you can trust our knowledge, experience and judgement.

We only create vector graphics for our logos, this is because with a vector graphic/logo you can scale this to any size imaginable and it would not lose any aspect of its quality what so ever. This creates not only a crisp look at any size, but this is the industry standard for logo design. If you really wanted a texture or a background image then that is still fine, but we will pick one that best works for your logo and brand.

Logos.

We create your Master Logo in a black, white and coloured version, and you also get a free "Social Emblem". If you have or want just a black logo, you will only receive a black version and a white version, and if you wanted to add a coloured version at a later date then we can do this free of charge.

Social media profiles now have circular profile images which means if your logo isn't already circular, we will create you a circular version of your logo so this fits perfectly in your Social Media profile pictures. We say "Emblem" because we normally abbreviate your logo into initials, or create a letter/number or symbol based emblem. This is because social media profile images can be quite small, so if you have a busy logo, this will be hard to read and recognise on your social media pages, so we also will design you a simplified version for your social pages.

Logo design.

Once we design your logo, we will send you your very own Logo Pack in PDF format which is very easy to view and read. The Logo Pack will contain your logos that we have designed for you, depending on what package you chose from on the Logo Design page of our website, depends on how many logos we will send over. Each logo will have a 'watermark' across it and the logos will be 'flattened' which means they cannot be edited and potentially 'stolen' your end (we do this for security purposes). If you want to make any amendments depending what package you chose, we will amend for you and send over the Logo Pack again (via email or We Transfer) until you are happy with what you have received.

Approval.

Once you are happy and you have selected your very own logo, we will send over a ZIP folder containing your logo via email or a file transfer service called 'We Transfer' (this is incase the file we are sending you is too big to send via email). To access your logos simply double click the ZIP folder that we send to you to open your logo (check your download folder if you cannot see this ZIP folder). If you cannot do this, please let us know and we will send you the files individually.

Contents.

This ZIP folder of your logo contains Three folders for your logo.. One will be your logo in black, one will be your logo in white and one will be your logo in colour (if this is applicable).

Folder example.

This is an example of the folder you will receive with your logos in. This example is based on an Apple iMac, not a PC... Your PC view will look different to this example, but the layout will be the same.

As you will see, you will have 2 clearly labelled folders called 1. Master & 2. Social.

Your Master folder will contain your main logo, which is the one you chose for your brand.

Your Social folder will contain your logo for your social media profile images. (these will be simplified versions of your logo)

In each folder, you will see 3 more folders called - 1. Master, Black, White.

Your 1. Master folder will have your main/master logo in, this is the one you signed off and selected and this is the one that you will use for your brand.

Your Black and White folders will contain the same logo, but saved in a black and white colour variant. This is incase you would like to use a different colour logo for your brand so we have given you both black and white options if you wanted them.

Some logos won't be designed with colour, as they could just be black or white. Which means if this is the case for your logo, you won't have either the Black or White folder show up. You would just have a 1. Master and White folder, or a 1. Master and Black folder. But for the sake of this example, we have chosen to use a coloured logo as our Master Logo so you can see all folder examples.

This is also the same principle for the 2. Social folder.

File types explained.

In each of the folders stated above, they will contain the same logo but saved in the different file formats: .pdf - .png - .jpg.

This means that you will have 3 files in each of the folders above. The file formats are explained below:

.PDF

This is your main file for your logo. This file is a vector file, which means this is simply just a colour within a shape/path. This can be scaled to any size possible and it will remain the same resolution as the logo doesn't include pixels. This is the file you would send to printers if you want to get your logo printed, and this is the file you would send to a designer if they need this to design something for your brand. The PDF is a file format that is universally used, this file can be edited by design and illustration programmes. This file can't be uploaded digitally to social media or web pages.

.PNG

This file is not a vector file, which means this acts like an image of your logo. This can't be scaled too largely as this will lose its resolution due to the amount of pixels or dpi (dots per inch) within the image. This file has a clear background, meaning you can overlay this onto any background and it will not have a coloured box behind the logo. This file is an image and cannot be edited within illustration or design programmes. This file can be uploaded digitally to social media or web pages.

.JPG

This file is not a vector file, which means this acts like an image of your logo. This can't be scaled too largely as this will lose its resolution due to the amount of pixels or dpi (dots per inch) within the image. This file is flattened and will have either a black or white background depending on what colour the logo is. If you was to overlap this onto a background this would have a black or white box behind the logo. This file is an image and cannot be edited within illustration or design programmes. This file can be uploaded digitally to social media or web pages.

What is a Vector?

A vector graphic/logo is artwork made up of points, lines, and curves that are based upon mathematical equations, rather than a solid coloured square pixels. This means that no matter how large or small or how close you zoom in on the image, the lines, curves, and points remain smooth. A vector is only made up of colour and lines 'paths', which means there are no pixels within the graphic. A pixel you would find in images, an image is made up of a certain amount of pixels to create the image. Depending on how many pixels there are in the image, depends on how good or bad the image quality is. With vector graphics, there are no pixels, there is just colour and paths meaning that you can scale this to any size you like and it remains the same quality. Please see below for some examples sourced from Google, to show you the difference.
